How to Move a Bed

If there is one item that every home will have, it is a bed. Homes vary greatly in what kind of furniture and furnishings they carry, but one constant is that they have beds. Beds vary greatly in the size and materials that they use, but they can be moved in much the same way, no matter what they are made of or their size. How to Move a Bed Frame

The first step in moving a bed is gathering all of the right materials. Moving something without the correct materials could prove to be much more difficult than you initially anticipated. Some of the most easily available materials that you should consider are the following:

• Mattress bags
• An extra set of hands/moving help
• Bubble wrap
• Packing tape
• Furniture or appliance dollies
• Screwdriver or wrench
• Plastic bag or container to keep all of the nuts and bolts

An important consideration that you should keep in mind is to measure the dimensions of your mattress or bed frame. This will make it easier for you to see if it fits through all of the doorways that it will need to or if you should take the doors off of the hinges to make some extra space. 

After this step, it is important to see if you have any time to wash some of the bed linens, pillows, or blankets that are on the bed. After washing these items, our Frisco movers recommend that you pack these bedding items in a way that takes up the least amount of space possible. Space is a valuable asset when it comes to a move, and these items can take up a lot of space if not packed properly.

How to Move a Bed Without Taking It Apart

As you can probably imagine from reading above, one of the principal aspects of moving a bed is taking it apart. However, if you are not moving to an entirely different home and want to move your bed within the confines of the home that you already live in, you will need to use other types of materials. For one, it is likely that the dimensions of the doors in your home are not large enough to allow for a bed frame or mattress to move through. If this is the case, you might need to unhinge the doors so that there is more breathing room for your materials. If there is enough space, you should simply add furniture sliders or cardboard boxes under your bed so that it is easier to slide from room to room.
